Agnes water/Magnetic Island+The tropical North
Am Anfang letzter Woche war ich in Agnes Water und habe endlich einen Surfkurs gemacht. Das hat erstaunlicherweise echt Spaß gemacht, obwohl man am Anfang nur hin und wieder für ein paar Sekunden auf dem Brett steht, bevor man ins Wasser fällt ... :D Ich denke ich werde auf dem Weg zurück nach Brisbane noch ein paar mal surfen gehen und versuchen etwas besser zu werden.
Zunächst einmal bin ich aber weiter nach Townsville gefahren. Dort war ich mal wieder hiken und habe den perfekten 'Sommer' hier genossen.
Von dort habe ich die Fähre auf die Magnetic Island genommen. Die Insel an sich ist recht klein, aber da gibt's sehr viel zu tun und es gibt viele wunderschöne Walks. Vor allem die kleineren Strände waren unglaublich schön und recht verlassen.
Unter anderem gab's den Forts Walk, der berühmt für die dort lebenden Koalas ist. Ich habe dort auch einen entdeckt. Die sind so süß, faul und schlafen fast den ganzen Tag im Baum - beneidenswert! Ganz in der Nähe von meiner Unterkunft gab's zudem die Wallaby Rocks. Dort leben ganz viele Wallabies und sind auch nicht so scheu wie manch andere. Auf dem Bild seht ihr eins, wo sogar das Baby aus dem Beutel schaut. :-)
Nun bin ich zurück in Townsville und die folgende Woche geht's für mich nach Cairns und Port Douglas, die nördlichsten Orte, die ich besuchen werde. Mal sehen wie das Wetter dort ist, da es hier schon richtig tropisch heiß ist.
Es sind übrigens nur noch knapp 4 Wochen - ich kann es kaum fassen...!

The beautiful tropical north of the east coast is simply amazing.
Here's so much to do!
One day I've been diving at the great barrier reef and I really enjoyed it! I love the underwater world and the peaceful coexistence with the animals. We even saw a tiny shark as you can see on one photo. The water was still very warm (about 27 degrees) and incredibly clear so that you could see the reef from the boat (photo top left). The group I've been diving with was also very nice and we had a lot of fun exploring the reef together.
There were a lot of Nemos and other beautiful fish :-)
If it wouldn't be insanely expensive I would probably get stuck in here and spent all my time diving in the ocean! But as it is, I'm not...
Another day I've been to the daintree rainforest which is a national park north of cairns. It was so beautiful being in the untouched nature surrounded by amazing kinds of trees and nature. On the daintree river cruise we also saw quite a few crocodiles relaxing in the sun.
On the way back we stopped in Port Douglas. It's a very cute town with a lot of cafés and a very relaxed atmosphere where we finished our day with an ice cream.
We definitely had a great day!
The rest of my time I just explored the town and I started with my shopping (I don't have to carry my backpack too long anymore).
Tomorrow I'll head back south to Airlie Beach and Brisbane where I'll finally catch my flight in direction 'home'.
